Leadership
The Gates Foundation has appointed Archna Vyas as Country Director for India, marking a significant leadership transition as the organisation deepens its engagement across public health, development, and social impact initiatives in the country. In her new role, Vyas will lead the foundation’s work in close partnership with government bodies, civil society organisations, and the private sector, driving strategic priorities aligned with the foundation’s global mission.
As Country Director, she will focus on strengthening collaborations, scaling high-impact programmes, and supporting evidence-led interventions across health systems, nutrition, sanitation, gender equity, and inclusive development. Her appointment reflects the foundation’s continued emphasis on long-term, locally anchored leadership in India.

She has spent over 11 years at the Gates Foundation, most recently serving as Deputy Director – Communications, India, where she played a key role in shaping stakeholder engagement and public discourse.
Earlier in her career, she held senior leadership roles at Reckitt across South East Asia and South Asia, and at IMX India, Mindshare, Universal McCann, FCB, and Ogilvy & Mather, working with global brands including PepsiCo, Nestlé, BBC, Discovery, Duracell, and Seagram.
