Samvardhana Motherson International has advanced its global growth strategy with the approval to acquire the wiring harness business of Germany-based Nexans Autoelectric for approximately €207 million. Executed through the company’s relevant subsidiary, the transaction marks a decisive step in strengthening its presence within automotive electrical and electronic systems, a critical segment amid rapidly evolving vehicle architectures.
The acquisition is expected to significantly enhance the company’s global capabilities in wiring harness technology, which plays a central role in power distribution, signal integrity, and system integration across conventional, electric, and next-generation mobility platforms. As vehicles become increasingly software-defined and electrified, the strategic importance of robust electrical systems continues to rise.
By integrating Nexans Autoelectric’s established operations, Samvardhana Motherson aims to accelerate synergies across engineering excellence, manufacturing scale, and geographic reach, particularly across European markets. The move aligns with the organisation’s long-term objective of deepening value-added offerings while strengthening resilience across its diversified automotive portfolio.
Industry observers view the acquisition as a forward-looking investment that enhances competitive positioning, supports revenue diversification, and reinforces the company’s role as a global supplier to leading automotive manufacturers amid shifting technology and regulatory landscapes.
