Macquarie Group has announced the appointment of Prateek Jhawar as Country Head - MAM Real Assets, India, marking a significant leadership move as the firm deepens its focus on India’s rapidly evolving real assets and infrastructure investment landscape. Based in Mumbai, Prateek will lead Macquarie Asset Management’s real assets strategy in India, driving investment growth across infrastructure, power, logistics, and real estate.
A seasoned investment banker with nearly two decades of experience, Prateek brings deep expertise in private equity fundraising, mergers and acquisitions, and complex financial structuring across high-growth sectors. Prior to joining Macquarie Group, he spent over 17 years at Avendus, where he most recently served as Managing Director – Investment Banking, heading the firm’s advisory practice for Infrastructure and Real Assets. His leadership played a key role in executing several marquee transactions in the Indian market.
Earlier in his career, Prateek held roles at ICICI Bank, Tata Power Company Limited, and Citibank, building a strong foundation in corporate finance and global investment banking. His appointment underscores Macquarie Group’s commitment to long-term capital deployment and strategic growth in India’s real assets ecosystem.
