In a landmark move to boost digital inclusion, the Government of Maharashtra has partnered with Elon Musk’s Starlink Satellite Communications Pvt Ltd to deliver satellite-based internet services across the state. The Letter of Intent (LOI) was officially signed, making Maharashtra the first Indian state to collaborate with Starlink for deploying advanced connectivity solutions.

Under this initiative, Starlink will provide high-speed satellite internet to government institutions, rural communities, and critical public infrastructure in remote and underserved regions, including Gadchiroli, Nandurbar, Washim, and Dharashiv.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized that the collaboration aligns with the state’s Digital Maharashtra mission and complements its efforts in EV development, coastal modernization, and disaster resilience. “This partnership marks a giant leap toward a future-ready Maharashtra and sets a new benchmark for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India mission at the grassroots,” Fadnavis shared on X.

With this strategic alliance, Maharashtra is set to lead India in satellite-enabled digital infrastructure, leveraging Starlink’s global expertise in ICT and satellite communications.
