Sonata Software has announced the appointment of Balaji Kumar as Chief Human Resources Officer, effective March 2026, marking his return to the organization after a brief tenure at Paytm.

In this role, Balaji will oversee the global people strategy across ANZ, APAC, UK, Europe, and the Americas, focusing on talent retention, cultural transformation, and scaling the workforce to support the company’s next phase of digital growth.

Balaji brings over 30 years of extensive experience in human resources, with a distinguished career spanning multiple global organizations. Prior to rejoining Sonata Software, he served as Global CHRO at Larsen & Toubro Infotech, where he managed a workforce of over 60,000 employees.

His professional journey also includes leadership roles at Hindustan Unilever, The Coca-Cola Company, Citi, and Microsoft, contributing to strategic HR initiatives and organizational development.

He began his career as an Attorney, practicing in the High Court and the Supreme Court of India, providing deep expertise in employee relations and legal compliance.
